Moray Rugby Club youth teams secure two cup final triumphs including one comeback from 28 points down - while under-18s win Saltire Energy Caledonia Quaich semi-final

An incredible comeback sealed a ‘Super Sunday’ on the silverware front for Moray Rugby Club’s youth teams.

While the first team were idle last weekend, three of the younger squads were in action in major cup competitions including two cup finals on the Sunday.

And what a 24 hours it was for the club, after the under-13 and under-14 teams were trophy winners while the under-18s marched on to a major final themselves.

The performance of the weekend was the last one on Sunday from Moray’s never-say-die under-14s.

They welcomed their Aberdeen Grammar counterparts to Morriston for the Culbean Cup final, and for more than half of the game it looked to be sliding away from the home club.

Five minutes into the second half, Grammar had built up a 35-7 lead and there seemed no way back for Moray - but then game the great revival.

Showing fantastic character, Moray chipped away at the Aberdeen lead and ended up scoring five tries in the closing 25 minutes to win the match 48-40, much to the delight of the home support.

This made it a special Moray Sunday, as the under-13s had also won their Culbean Cup against Highland.

A great display of running rugby proved too much for the Inverness side as Moray stormed to a 43-12 success.
