Highland League football: Forres Mechanics too strong for Keith in derby while Brora Rangers close in on title and Inverurie Locos stun Turriff United with late comeback

Forres Mechanics completed a great derby week with a 4-1 win over Keith in the Highland League.

Cans followed up their 3-0 success at Lossiemouth in midweek by seeing off the Maroons at Mosset Park.

Two Matt Jamieson goals and a Calum Frame goal had the home side three-up before Brody Alberts got one back.

Jordan Alonge’s 55th minute goal completed the scoring.

Rothes looked on course to end their winless streak when they led Deveronvale, only to crash to their 17th defeat in 18 games.

Adam Reid put Vale ahead at the break but Tom Brady and Owen Alexander had Rothes ahead after an hour.

Ben Hermiston made it 2-2 and Harry Noble’s 87th minute penalty won it for the Banff men.

Lossiemouth tested third-placed Banks o’ Dee at Grant Park but succumbed to a 2-1 loss.

Lachie MacLeod put Dee ahead but on-loan Buckie striker Liam Harvey levelled, only for Andy Hunter to score a 60th minute winner for the away team.

Brora Rangers all but sewed up the league title as goals by Craig MacKenzie and Shane Sutherland secured a 2-0 win over Huntly.

A victory at home to Rothes next Saturday will secure the crown, with Brechin City waiting for any slip-up from the leaders.

Brechin defeated Nairn County 3-0 in their penultimate match with three goals in four first half minutes from Brad McKay and Cillian Sheridan (2) securing the win.

Inverurie Locos produced a rousing revival to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat at Turriff United.

A first half Milosz Ochmanski own goal had United in front until the closing five minutes, when two Mark Souter goals turned things around.

Wick Academy’s fine run continued with a 3-2 success at Strathspey Thistle.

Kyle Henderson, Marc Macadie and Euan Kennedy netted for the Caithness men with James McShane and Daniel Whitehorn replying for Jags.
