Elgin "embarrassed" by heavy Falkirk defeat
ANGRY Elgin City boss Jim Weir blasted his team’s worst defeat in his time in charge at Borough Briggs.
City were thumped 6-1 by Falkirk to exit the Irn Cup in disappointing fashion on Saturday.
Manager Weir said his players should be embarrassed by their defeat, and said some of his team played well within their comfort zone.
In an interview on the club’s Twitter page, he said: “(There was) no leadership, no responsibility…..slapped about, weak in every department at the back.
“I felt for one or two players in certain areas of the park. Sutherland, Cameron and McLeish certainly put a shift in but as far as the rest…..they should be embarrassed.
“We looked as though we felt sorry for ourselves. One or two players showed, for me, that they are in their comfort zone at this football club and that might need to change.”
Elgin have now lost their last three matches and make the league trip to Berwick Rangers next Saturday looking to stop the rot.

They conceded their opening goal at the Falkirk Stadium after just five minutes when Bob McHugh netted.
Myles Hippolyte added a freak second on 32 minutes with a cross which looped over on loan Caley Thistle keeper Cammy Mackay and dropped in.
Mark Nicolson pulled one back with a superb long range effort into the top corner on 38 minutes.
However John Baird quickly restored Falkirk’s two-goal lead, and both he and McHugh added second goals after David McCracken had made it 4-1 on 48 minutes.
It was Elgin’s second loss at Falkirk this season following their 3-0 defeat to the Championship outfit in the Betfred Cup.
It also equalled the heaviest City loss under Weir’s management, as they were beaten 5-0 at Morton a year ago.
