Corey Edgar is crowned winner at Elgin Golf Club’s Five-Day Open





A DOMINANT Corey Edgar picked up the Kynoch Shand Cup at Elgin Golf Club’s Five-Day Open.

Edgar topped the leaderboards by three shots after the opening two days, with scores of 71 and 68 for a gross of 139.

He continued his form when the matchplay golf began, beating Billy Devine 4/3 in the last 16 of the Kynoch Shand - which was competed for by the top 16 golfers from the first two days out of the 117 participants.

He then recorded back-to-back 2/1 victories over Brent MacLeman and Craig Hay Smith to reach the final, where John Westwood stood in his way. Westwood was swept aside by Edgar, who was a 4/3 winner.

The Kynoch Shand wasn’t the only tournament being contested on Friday at Elgin Golf Club. John Morrison collected the W J Clark Cup with a 3/2 win over Keith Logan.

Ross Wilson was a 6/4 winner over Garry McIntyre in the Engineers Salver, while Stephen Lawson won the JAG Innes Consolation Cup with a 3/2 win over Callum McSherry.

Tommy Kelly won the Senior’s Shield with a 5/4 victory against Gary Cruickshank in the final.
