Scottish Fire and Rescue Service issue wildfire warning for north east
THE Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) have issued a wildfire warning for the north east.
SFRS have urged the public to take the utmost care in the countryside after they rated the risk of wildfires in the area as 'very high'.
The warning follows a series of wildfires across Scotland over the past week. That includes a wildfire at the foot of Ben Rinnes outside Aberlour on Thursday afternoon which took two hours fore fire crews to extinguish.
The weather pattern over the next few days, dominated by high-pressure, variable winds and unusually high temperatures for March, increases the risk.
The warning was issued yesterday and will last until Monday, March 28.
Niall MacLennan, SFRS Group Commander, said: "With rising temperatures this weekend and further dry conditions into next week, wildfires could burn and spread with very high intensity in high-risk areas.
"Therefore, we are asking people to act responsibly when enjoying the outdoors and please think twice before using anything involving a naked flame."
