Well-loved pensioner Maurice Dey has revealed that he raised over £130 for charity during last month's Kiltwalk.

Maurice Dey, who recently celebrated his 74th birthday after overcoming serious health problems last year, put on his walking boots to support the charity Inspire.

Back during winter the Archiestown OAP got out of hospital to discover that kind-hearted local people had raised more than £5000 to buy him a car which his carers could drive.

Maurice's friend Anne Speake said: "He's in really good fettle.

"It's amazing he is still here and enjoying life so much.

"I'd like people, including the medical team who looked after him, to see for themselves just how well he is now.

"I'd also like to let everyone know just how he loves his car.

"Maurice Dey is proof that you should never give up."
