Buckie DJ Paul T makes it two Top Tier Wedding Awards on the trot in historic victory

A Moray DJ has made history by triumphing for two years in a row at a prestigious north wedding awards.

Once again Buckie DJ Paul Tough - known professionally as Paul T - was the only DJ in the finals of the Top Tier Wedding Awards Evening Entertainer of the Year category, although this proved to be no impediment to him scooping the silverware for the second year running.

He was up against some top notch competition, including Elgin band Diamond Skies.

The finalists, and the ultimate winners, are decided entirely on a vote of couples who have used their services.

Paul becomes the first person to win a Top Tier award two years in a row and is only the second ever DJ to taste success in the contest.

However, victory was the last thing on his mind when he went along to the awards ceremony in Ardoe House Hotel, Aberdeen on Sunday February 23.

He explained: “To be honest I’d no intention of winning it this year, I was just going along to have a nice night out with some supplier friends.

“The two in a row wasn’t even in my head.

“When my name was read out I couldn’t believe it, the people sitting at my table said the shock showed on my face.

“I’m still buzzing yet - after an amazing weekend that just topped it all.”

The victory has meant a lot both professionally and personally to the popular Buckie DJ.

Paul continued: “I’m incredibly grateful to all the amazing couples who trusted me to be part of their big day.

“It’s an honour to be recognised among such talented people. The standard at this year’s awards was very, very high. Top Tier always has a high standard but this year it was extra high. In the Entertainer category this year there was the extra challenge of ceilidh bands and vocalists.

“To get recognised for your talents is just amazing. I had people coming up to me at the awards saying that I deserved it, which is a huge compliment.”

Professionalism is very much the foundation stone of Paul’s award success and enduring popularity across the north of Scotland.

He added: “I think it’s the experience I bring to a wedding that makes the difference.

“There’s a fun and chilled element to what I do, but I’ve got the professionalism. It’s all about the couples, it’s their day, after all.”

There was more silverware heading for the Tough household mantelpiece in the shape of a Highly Commended in the Scottish Wedding Awards DJ of the Year award, an honour Paul won two years ago and while claiming a Highly Commended the year before that. The awards ceremony was held in Glasgow on Wednesday, February 26, although he was unable to attend due to work commitments.

Paul commented: “I’m delighted to be recognised by the Scottish Wedding Awards for the service I provide to the wedding industry.

“Being highly commend out of all the DJs in Scotland it’s truly amazing.”
