Speyfest fans to get on their marks as festival teams up with Fochabers firm for Sunday Skedaddle

Two well-known Moray organisations have teamed up to launch a special new experience for an international music festival this summer.

Long-standing Fochabers event Speyfest and local running and specialist outdoor clothing company Skedaddle Speyside are joining forces to stage a 5k fun run as part of this year’s festival.

The Speyfest Sunday Skedaddle will take place at 11am on Sunday, July 27 ahead of the festival’s all-day family-friendly celebration of contemporary Celtic music and culture.

Walkers, joggers and runners signed up for the event will take on a 5k route from Speyfest’s tented village at the playing fields on East Street, to the nearby picturesque Gordon Castle Estate and back.

Guided by resident running experts from Skedaddle Speyside, participants will have a chance to clear away any cobwebs from across the weekend and run head first into the final day of the three-day festival.

Finishers will be treated to a much-earned bacon roll, Speyside dram and a medal, setting them up for the day ahead.

Speyfest Chair Ashleigh Macgregor said: “We’re encouraging festival goers to lace up their trainers this July and join us for the inaugural Speyfest Sunday Skedaddle.

“Anyone is welcome to register and be part of what will be a welcoming, no-pressure dash around one of our stunning local landmarks. Skedaddle is a business right at the heart of the community here in Fochabers so it was a no-brainer to team up with them.

“We’re always looking for new ways to build on the festival experience for our attendees and we hope the Speyfest Sunday Skedaddle will make for a great addition to the weekend.”

Skedaddle Speyside Founder Sally Bruce commented: "We are delighted to be involved with this year's Speyfest and look forward to bringing the community together for this relaxed family fun run.
