Three Elgin cheerleaders get ready to represent Scotland at the International Cheer Union World Championships in Florida
THREE Moray cheerleaders are setting off for America to represent Scotland on the international stage.
Emily Allan (24), Ria West (14) and Raegan Tatters (14) will head to Florida next month as part of the Team Scotland Cheer Squad where they will compete in the International Cheer Union World Championships.
The trio will leave for Orlando on April 12 to train, ahead of the competition which takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex from April 19 - 21.
Elgin Academy pupils Ria and Raegan will be competing at the event with the first ever Scotland Youth Cheer Team, while Solicitor and cheer coach Emily will be returning with the Adaptive Abilities Pom Team - who won Scotland's first ever gold cheerleading medal in 2022.
Coach at Allstars and Stripes Cheer and Dance (ASCD) Michelle Tatters said: "I'm so proud of the girls. Going to the World Championships is such a goal for people in the sport and in the cheer and dance world this like their Olympics, to be able to go and represent your country is such an honour and the girls are so excited.
In preparation for the competition, the trio have been fundraising for their training and travel costs. Along with generous donations from Elgin Rotary, they have also organised raffles and coffee mornings and Ria and Raegan also plan to do a sponsored walk in the Easter holidays before they leave for the World Championships.
You can follow their journey to the championships and join in their fundraising efforts on facebook on their page Raegan and Ria’s Road to Worlds.
