The Wedding Street celebrates
EVEN a last-minute downpour couldn’t spoil a special day on Elgin’s ‘Wedding Street’.
Cheryl and Daniel McMillan renewed their wedding vows in front of family, friends and well-wishers who had turned out to see their happy moment.
The Elgin couple were the focal point of South Street’s rebranding as ‘The Wedding Street’.
All the businesses came together to donate items for their big day and promote the street to other couples planning a wedding.
The couple, of Shaw Place, planned the renewal ceremony after coming through a difficult few years which included the loss of their stillborn daughter Chelsea-May, Cheryl’s dad Robert and Daniel’s stepdad Kenneth.
A relaxed ceremony in a marquee in a private car park in South Street saw the couple reaffirm their commitment to each other and showcase what South Street has to offer brides and grooms-to-be.
Cheryl, who had to fight back tears as she arrived, said: “It was really emotional. I didn’t expect so many people to turn up. It has been really nice and special because everybody made the effort to come along; friends and close family."
Gill Neill, Elgin BID manager, said: “The day has been fantastic and the businesses have done amazingly well in pulling everybody together. It has been really good fun and a great atmosphere."
