Tesco in Elgin evacuated and fire brigade on the scene after pipe bursts

TWO fire engines were in attendance at Tesco in Elgin this afternoon after a burst pipe caused a store evacuation.

The bursting of the pipe caused a loud bang and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were initially called to a possible explosion.

The pipe was found and sealed off. Two aisles have been closed as a result, with food removed from one side of one aisle.

"Two fire appliances were mobilised to the scene, where crews discovered a refrigeration pipe which had burst.

"Firefighters isolated the refrigeration system and ventilated the store, which had been previously evacuated.

"There was no fire present within the store, and no reported casualties.
