Moray school ‘firearms’ threat sees teen arrested





Police have arrested a teenager after malicious emails - understood to be a firearms threat - were sent to multiple Moray and Highland schools.

News first broke on Friday morning of a large police response in Forres to reports of a possible firearms threat to schools.

Police have since confirmed that they had been made aware of a “malicious email” sent to schools in Forres, as well as “a number of schools” in Inverness, Nairn and Auldearn.

The force, which did not confirm if the malicious emails contained a firearms threat, added that a 19-year-old man had been arrested and that enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 8.20am on Friday, February 28, 2025, officers were made aware of a malicious email sent to a number of schools in the Nairn, Auldearn, Forres and Inverness area.

"A 19-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”
