AN initiative to raise funds for free mental health support is being launched in Forres.

Stuart Cox and Jean Pryde, are showcasing their unique greetings cards from 4-8pm on Thursday, February 22 at Cafe 1496 - profits from their venture will be invested in local mental health training, one-to-one coaching, and peer support networks.

“Our ‘Brilliantly Brave’ publishing company based in Rafford will transform heartfelt sentiments into tangible support,” said Jean. “The launch event will offer a chance to see our collection and learn about our mission.

“Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Moray Joan Cowe and Louise McBride of Lossie Community Hub are attending and we’ll be selling cards then donating profits to the Lossiemouth Mental Health Peer Support Group.”

Jean is the founder of ‘Green Ribbons’ mental health coaching and training. She has had over 30-years career in mental health and delivers Scotland’s Mental First Aid training across the region.

Stuart has spent 20 years in Moray’s health and social care. His ‘I Like Birds’ greeting cards and giftware are already sold in the UK and abroad. Stuart’s designs have won industry awards and he has licensing deals worldwide.

He said: “Together we’re leveraging our passions: communication and mental health to uplift spirits and fund support.”

The pair sell cards - available at Gallery No 55 in Forres and Enchanted in Elgin - wholesale to retailers.

“Every card sold helps on-the-ground resources,” said Jean, “creating a sustainable circle of care.

“The cards are designed to brighten days and serve as beacons of hope. We show that small businesses can innovate to meet critical community needs.”

Jean points out that the profits from the sale of 1000 cards, for example, will provide 16 people with Scotland’s Mental First Aid training or establish another peer support group. Increased sales would allow the hire of specialists to provide additional free training related to ADHD, neurodiversity and many more.
