Liverpool Football Club and Boston Red Sox owner John W. Henry arrives in Lossiemouth on Elysian superyacht in surprise Moray visit
The owner of one of the world’s biggest football clubs has paid a surprise visit to a north-east town.
John W. Henry, the owner of Liverpool Football Club, appeared in Lossiemouth just after 2pm today (Thursday, August 29).
Mr Henry, who also owns American football team the Boston Red Sox and ice hockey giants Pittsburgh Penguins, appeared with his wife Linda Pizzuti Henry.
He arrived on Moray’s coast on a 217-foot superyacht called Elysian, which contains a swimming pool and helicopter landing pad and is valued at around $90 million.
The 74-year-old then transferred from the yacht into a smaller boat to reach the harbour, where he and his wife took time to speak to Liverpool fans.
A car then whisked the pair off to an undisclosed location.
The same vessel docked in Aberdeen earlier this week, but Mr Henry was not seen in the Granite City as he was watching Liverpool’s 2-0 Premier League success against Brentford.
John W. Henry is worth $6 billion and has owned Liverpool since 2010, when the club was taken over by Fenway Sports Group.
The Reds made their first summer signing today when Federico Chiesa made the move to Anfield from Italian club Juventus.
