Linkwood Primary officially opened in January 2021, when lockdown was in effect, with this being the first "massive" event.

Andrea Robertson, whose daughter Dulcie attends the school, is on the school's parent council.

She said: "It was really good and really busy. Around 300 people took part and so many were from outwith our school community.

"Loads of parents took part – there was one family that even had four generations involved, from a baby to a pensioner.

"We have never hosted anything as big as this. It's the first massive thing we have had, but it could turn into an annual event as it was so popular."

As well as the colour run itself – which saw people at five 'throwing stations' launch environmentally-friendly coloured powder at runners – there was a inflatable jungle gym and bouncy castle.

Calum's Kitchen attended to serve fresh food and there was music playing – with many families enjoying the sun and eating together for three or four hours.

In addition to being a fun, community-orientated event, the run was aiming to raise funds for new playground equipment.

"We want to get new football goals for the playing fields," Andrea added. "These would be for the pupils and for the new football team, which is becoming more established.

"We are going to be able to get them now and we will see what else we can afford."

The event was made possible thanks to a series of local sponsors. The five throwing stations were sponsored by The Floor Studio, Cameron and Hawksley, Tesco Elgin, Toy Toon and Jigsaw Joinery.

The overall sponsor – enabling the school to purchase medals, 200 of which were handed out to younger participants – was Springfield Properties.
