A96 road crash near Colpy leads to death of 76-year-old pedestrian





Police are appealing for information following a fatal crash on the A96 near Colpy on Friday.

The incident happened around 7.15am on the Huntly to Inverurie Road at Colpy and involved a blue Ford Fiesta and a male pedestrian.

Emergency services attended and the 76-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, a 26-year-old woman, was uninjured.

The A96 has now fully reopened following the crash.

Sergeant Sarah Ritchie of the North East Road Policing Unit said: "My thoughts are with the family of the man who died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“I would like to thank the members of the public that stopped and assisted at the scene.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage to contact Police on 101, quoting incident number 0517 of February 21, 2025.
