Elgin Town Hall dance show will open Pandora’s Box

When you open ‘Pandora’s Box’ you never know what you are likely to get but one thing you can bank on is hope.

A local dance school is aiming to leave audiences feeling hopeful and many other happy feelings at Elgin Town Hall this weekend with a production called ‘Elpis’, which is derived from the Greek for ‘spirit of hope’.

EJT Dance students will re-tell the traditional story but with their own unique twist.

On Friday and Saturday, the cast of 50 will use music and dance to play out the ancient tale of the gods and goddesses who use their gifts to release evil upon the world, but the one thing that remains and rises through the ashes is hope.

EJT owner and show director Erika Jayne-Todd said: “Elpis was an idea born from my love of storytelling and the desire to create productions that leave a lasting impression on the audience.

“Having been in rehearsals since Easter, the dancers have dedicated countless hours to the production, a true labour of love, and the time has finally come to release Elpis to the stage.

“This show is particularly special for three senior dancers, who will grace the stage for a final time before embarking on their journeys at professional dance colleges, of whom I could not be prouder.”

Erika has been developing, choreographing and directing the entire production throughout pregnancy and is due to give birth in September.

Accompanying the local talent on stage will be professional carnival cruise ship performer, Reece Carson.

As well as the two showings of Elpis, 50 EJT junior dancers will be taking to the stage on Saturday afternoon to tell the classic story of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

Individual tickets and table bookings can be purchased via Ticketsource.
