Huntly banking hub’s opening day is announced
Huntly’s new banking hub is to be based in the town centre, it has been announced.
The banking facility will be housed at 11 Deveron Street, next to Number 30 in The Square.
Cash Access UK has also confirmed the facility, which can be used by customers of any bank, will go live on Thursday, December 12.
A counter service will be operated by Post Office employees, allowing people to withdraw and deposit cash, make bill payments and carry out regular transactions.
In addition, there will be private spaces where customers can speak to representatives from their own bank about more complicated matters that require specialist knowledge or privacy.
The various banks will work on a rotating basis, with staff from different organisations available on different days.
In recent years Huntly has lost a total of four bank branches: Bank of Scotland; Royal Bank of Scotland; TSB; and Clydesdale.
Harriet Cross, the MP for Gordon and Buchan, said: “The site is the ideal place for people who rely on cash and face-to-face banking services.
“This service will be invaluable and a huge asset.
“After years without a physical branch, I look forward to seeing it in action, marking a significant step forward in safeguarding the financial well-being of our community in Huntly.”
A spokeswoman for Cash Access UK said: “The temporary location will be at 11 Deveron Street. We are still assessing locality for the permanent location.
“Due to Huntly being a community request, under the new regulations as of September 18, we have to have a hub in place by 12 weeks, hence the temporary location.
“All the same services will be provided within the permanent location, just on a smaller scale.
“We are aiming for the go-live date to be December 12.”
