New Nairn splash pad finished

Construction work on a new splash pad at Nairn Links has been completed a month ahead of schedule.

.

The water play area was part funded by TeamHamish, the charity set up by Nairn couple Sam and Susan Hey along with their daughter Lily (14) in memory of son and brother Hamish.

Hamish died of a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer in 2017, aged eight.

Susan lost her own battle with cancer in May.

Mr Hey said: "We are so excited to see our ideas for #TeamHamish come to fruition.

"This wonderful achievement was only made possible through the incredible support and generosity by the community of Nairn, and beyond, over the last three years.

"The creation of this amazing splash pad is a wonderful and lasting legacy in both Hamish and Susan’s memory and a place that can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities for many years to come."

.

Although the splash pad is now complete it is not yet open to the public as clarity is being sought about Covid-19 compliance.
