New life for disused loft near Fochabers as Moray Council approves proposals
Plans to convert a disused loft into a conference facility on a rural estate have been given the go-ahead.
Proposals to transform the building on Mains of Orton Estate near Fochabers were initially submitted by Mantell Ritchie Chartered Architects to Moray Council on November 21 last year.
The loft, which dates back to the 19th century, was previously used to store grain.
However, it will now be given new life as a conference facility.
The facility will include a kitchenette, office, meeting room area with a capacity for 30 people and a communal reception area which will accommodate up to 18 people.
The only external works on the building will be the installation of a new window on the north-east elevation, a new window on the south-west elevation and a new door on the north-west elevation.
Once complete, the conference facility will be used by existing staff on the estate as well as visitors but there is not expected to be an increase in parking demand in the area according to planning documents.
