Moray family welcomes fifth generation of women to the world
A MORAY family is celebrating welcoming its fifth generation of women to the world.
Born on January 24, Ruby Irene MacKenzie is in the unique position of having four generations looking after her, including great great grandmother Irene McInnes (91).
Proud mother Caera MacDonald (24), who lives in Elgin with partner David, originally from Glasgow, named her daughter in honour of her great grandmother.
"Ruby's middle name is Irene, after her great great grandmother," she explained.
"When we told my great grandmother that we were naming Ruby after she was really emotional, which was sweet. She just loves her.
"She's a very important person in my life so it was important for me to name Ruby after her, and to have a part of her name from my side of the family."
Also looking after Ruby are grandmother Maureen Davidson (45) and great grandmother Hazel Davidson (65).
The five all live in Moray – in Dyke and Elgin – and got together for the first time to celebrate Easter with an egg hunt.
Caera added that an advantage of having such a big family is that much-needed advice is readily available.
"Ruby has been to see everyone now and we have had people around in small amounts," she said.
"We had an Easter Egg hunt and that was the first time we got everyone together at once.
"It's good to be able to ask for advice – my great grandmother said to take everything easy and ask for help when I need to."
