Lossiemouth Holiday Park gets new general manager as Park Holidays UK insist 'considerable investment' is being made
PARK Holidays UK have appointed a new general manager at the Lossiemouth Holiday Park and insist 'considerable investment' is being made to improve the site.
The news comes after some caravan owners described the park, formerly known as the Lossiemouth Bay Caravan Park, as a 'bomb site' following the company's takeover last year.
One owner claimed recently that the park went without water for 11 days and that broken washing machines and tumble dryers have not been fixed months after the takeover.
But Park Holidays say that investment is being made in the park and have apologised to caravan owners while work is being carried out.
A spokesperson for Park Holidays UK said: "As part of our current investment programme, we are undertaking a number of new developments including landscaping of the grounds.
"These type of projects are normally carried out in the winter months when holiday home owners visit less frequently, and we apologise if any minor inconveniences have been caused.
"We can, however, give the assurance that the park will be returned to us by the contractors after completion in a first-class and visually attractive condition, consistent with the high standards for which Park Holidays UK is known."
James Ellison, who had been responsible for the company's parks in Moray including sites in Lossiemouth and Burghead, has moved onto another park within the portfolio.
That has seen Elaine Airth take over as Lossiemouth Holiday Park's new general manager.
Moray MP Douglas Ross has now requested to meet with Ms Airth 'as soon as possible' to discuss how she can help improve the situation for caravan owners.
Mr Ross said: "The situation at Lossiemouth Bay Caravan Park has been nothing short of a disgrace and I have received concerns about the situation at Burghead as well.
"There has been a dereliction of duty from those responsible within Park Holidays to address the widespread concerns of owners.
“The appointment of a new manager, with extensive experience within the sector makes me hopeful that things will improve going forward.
"However, I have received assurances from Park Holidays before that they failed to deliver so I am extremely keen to meet with Elaine Airth as quickly as possible to discuss the ongoing concerns of owners and how things can drastically improve for them."
Mr Ross has also called for a better level of engagement from the company but Park Holidays claim that an offer to meet with the MP has been met with no response.
"Park Holidays UK contacted Mr Ross's constituency office a few weeks ago to agree a meeting with the park's general manager, but we have not yet received a response," Park Holidays UK's spokesperson added.
"If he does agree to a meeting, we will outline to him the considerable investment being made at the park for the benefit of guests and holiday home owners, which will also bring advantages to the regional economy and other local businesses which rely on tourism spending.
"As ever, we welcome engagement with holiday home owners on any subject, and owners are always welcome to contact our park office to make an appointment."
