Ruby Yaxley (11) won for her cosy Christmas design which features a cat snuggled up against a fireplace.

Moray's MP invited 45 primary schools in Moray to take part in the competition. This year saw hundreds of designs submitted from across Moray.

Mr Ross also decided to select four runners-up alongside Ruby owing to the high standard of this year's submissions.

Mr Ross said: "It was great to get so many entries from school children across Moray with an amazing array of designs. We have some really talented artists in our local schools.

"There are always a huge number of fantastic entries, and this year was no different. We had another bumper number of pupils taking part this year which is really encouraging.

"It was extremely difficult to pick a winner and runners-up. The standard was so high I decided to select a winner and four runners-up, but there could have been many more.

"I want to thank every pupil and every school that took part and got involved.

"The winning designs all feature on thousands of my cards that go out this Christmas.

"The cards get sent to local people, businesses and the Prime Minister so the winners know their design is now in 10 Downing Street.

"After the difficult year we have all had, it was nice to be able to do something so positive and I know the designs on the card will impress everyone who receives it."

Mr Ross was not able to meet Ruby in person this year due to coronavirus restrictions. However, all prize winners and participants received certificates of commendation for their efforts.

Funding for the cards was secured from local businesses via sponsorship.
