Portsoy Ice Cream triumphs at regional ceremony of Scotland’s Business Awards
A popular ice cream shop is celebrating after winning a top regional award.
Portsoy Ice Cream was triumphant in the Aberdeen and Shire ceremony of Scotland’s Business Awards.
It won the Best Dessert Shop in Aberdeenshire category.
The shop said: “Thank you to all our wonderful customers, staff and those who voted for us.”
It can now go on to the national grand final in Glasgow which takes place in November.
Scotland’s Business Awards is an independent regional and national competition. It is now one of the biggest business contests in the country.
It has 16 regional qualifying stages and its unique feature is that it travels across Scotland annually.
Regional stages are held in Angus, Perthshire, Fife, Aberdeen and Shire, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Falkirk, Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway, The Borders, Dundee, Inverness, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Dunbartonshire.
Nominations are open all year round to encourage people to put forward a businesses for consideration.
Any member of the public can then vote for a business but it is only one factor. Mystery shopper visits are carried out and the awards team also go to the nomineees.
Through a combination of nominations, mystery shopping and discussion with the businesses, regional winners are decided.
They then compete in the national grand final held annually in Glasgow. It brings together the winners from the 16 regional qualifying award contests to find out who will win the top awards.
