Moray Council is asking for ideas from locals to create a plan for the community for the next 20 years at a drop in event this weekend.

Officials, who will be present at the event at Elgin Town Hall, want to hear ideas on a range of subjects.

That includes suggestions as to where new housing developments should be, the regeneration of Elgin town centre and what open spaces need improved.

Topics concerning climate change and infrastructure across Moray will also be discussed.

Chair of Planning and Regulatory Services Committee, Councillor David Gordon (Conservative, Speyside and Glenlivet), said: “This is a perfect opportunity for people in Elgin to have their say on how they want to see development progress in the area from 2027 and beyond.

“We know locals are creative and innovative, so now is the time to bring those skills forward and get involved with shaping the future of our community.

“Future development in the region affects everybody so it’s in all of our interests to get the Local Development Plan right for the area – that means taking on board the views of the wider community and that’s exactly what this session is about.”

The drop in exhibition will take place at Elgin Town Hall on Saturday.

The exhibition will take place this Saturday (May 27) between 10am-3pm. A facilitated session will take place with council officers at 11am and 2pm to map ideas.

Any feedback from the sessions will be used to input to the Local Development Plan 2027 which will help provide the council with a blueprint for development across Moray.

The Elgin session follows similar events held in Forres, Aberlour and Dufftown.

Events are also being hosted in Lossiemouth on June 17, Fochabers on June 22 and Buckie on August 26.
