Moray Vaccination Centre to move after failure to agree terms with landlord of current New Elgin location

Moray’s main vaccination centre will move to a temporary location next month after terms could not be agreed with the landlord of its current Southfield location.

The vaccination centre will move to Beechbrae Education Centre on Duffus Road in Elgin from April 7.

Since June 2024, the Moray Vaccination Centre has been based at Southfield in New Elgin after moving from the Fiona Elcock Centre.

Notice was given by Health and Social Care Moray (HSCM) and NHS Grampian on the original lease last year with the partners seeking to continue using the larger unit for the vaccination centre.

However, terms have failed to be agreed with the landlord to remain beyond April 23.

As a result, the centre will relocate to Beechbrae, where it will continue providing vaccinations for adults - including COVID-19, shingles, pneumococcal and RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) - as well as vaccinations for pre-school and school-aged children and any required non-routine vaccinations.

Appointment letters will direct people to the new site.

Judith Proctor, chief officer of HSCM, said: “Through close collaboration with NHS Grampian and Moray Council colleagues, the Beechbrae Education Centre has been identified as a short-term solution while longer-term options for the local vaccination programme are explored.

“Staying up to date with vaccinations remains as important as ever and this swift relocation of the Moray Vaccination Centre ensures we can continue protecting people in Moray against a wide range of infections.

“We are grateful to everyone working hard to ensure a smooth transition and to provide a safe, effective environment for vaccinations.

“We appreciate that this is another venue change for people, and we thank everyone in advance for their understanding.”

The Moray Council-owned building is currently being vacated by the Social, Emotional and Behavioural Needs Services as part of a planned relocation of teams to the council’s HQ campus in Elgin Town Centre.

The national Spring vaccination programme begins next on March 31.

It will start with vaccinations for residents in care homes and for those who are housebound, followed by all adults aged 75 years and over, and individuals aged six months and over who are immunosuppressed.
