Elgin 71-year-old dies after house fire on Alba Place





A 71-year-old woman who was taken to hospital after a house fire in Elgin has died.

The woman was taken to Dr Gray’s after a blaze on the town’s Alba Place on Monday, March 17.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that she passed away in hospital.

“At around 11.30pm on Monday, March 17, 2025 we received a report of a fire at Alba Place, Elgin,” the spokesperson said.

“A 71-year-old woman was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital, where she later died.”

Officers launched an investigation in the aftermath of the fire, but quickly confirmed that it was “not suspicious”.

Police confirmed that this position has not changed and the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
