DYW Moray presents Employer Recognition Award to Laura McFadden

A MORAY woman has been presented with Developing The Young Workforce's Moray Employer Recognition Award.

DYW Moray has been thanking local employers for inspiring the area's youngsters with the monthly award since July 2022 – with Laura McFadden the latest winner.

Laura has been a continued supporter of DYW Moray in her various jobs in the community, volunteering many hours to help young people across the region.

During lockdown, she created a video for primary school children about how she uses maths in her role and, in addition, got her children involved in the “Bring my Child to Work” national campaign.

Laura said: “I was so shocked that I had been chosen to receive the award that I was almost speechless!

"Everyone who works for DYW Moray does such a fantastic job and when I can help them in any small way I am always happy to oblige.

"Seeing how the jobs market has changed so considerably over the last few years, I appreciate how it can be quite daunting for young people trying to navigate their way through this.

"If anything I have done has helped any young person have a better experience, then I am delighted."

Aimee Stephen, DYW Moray business liaison, added: “Laura has been involved in delivering several school and college activities, including employability talks to UHI Moray, Speyside High, Forres and Elgin Academy students.

"As a result of these engagements, we are amazed to highlight that Laura has engaged with over 250 Moray young people.

"At DYW Moray we are very grateful for all the employers that continue to support the work we do to better prepare young people for the world of work.

"Without individuals like Laura, we would not be able to make the difference we do to our local young people’s lives.”
