‘Community space’ to open in New Elgin this weekend.
A new community space called ‘The Link’ will be in New Elgin this Saturday.
Known as The Link, it will operate as a daytime drop-in centre, offering activities for families.
Kathleen Robertson, who chairs Moray Council’s education committee, said: “The opening of this new space is the culmination of a lot of hard work.”
“I am delighted to see this vision become a reality. It’s a wonderful example of how the community has come together to create a place where people of all ages can gather, connect, and engage in meaningful activities.”
The council states that a new steering group has been formed, and a number of local volunteers have already signed up to help with the running of the space.
Local resident Melissa Macdonald said: “This is such an exciting opportunity for members of this local community and local groups to come together to make connections.
“It’s been great to see residents working together to share ideas, get involved and bring the project to life. I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
A light and music show will be staged from 3.30pm during Saturday’s opening, which will also involve a range of fun activities including a bouncy castle and Santa’s grotto.
The new space will be available to members of the community in New Elgin, Pinefield, Ashgrove and other surrounding areas.
