Community consultation events announced for Dufftown and Upper Cabrach to discuss Clashindarroch Wind Farm Extension plans
PEOPLE in Dufftown and Upper Cabrach can have their say on Clashindarroch Wind Farm's new extension plans.
Renewable energy developers Infinergy are inviting members of the local community to find out more about their proposals for up to 22 wind turbines and a 50 megawatt battery energy storage facility on land to the west of the existing Clashindarroch Wind Farm.
The project would have an installed generating and storage capacity of up to 195.2 megawatts, generating enough power to support up to 108,055 average UK households each year.
A Community Benefit Fund of up to £726,000 per year for the life of the wind energy project is also proposed.
Since the initial development stages, the project has been reduced from 34 wind turbines to the current 22. A spokesperson for the initiative said: “The project is still at an early stage, with a Section 36 application yet to be submitted to the Scottish Government.
"We have worked hard to design a project that would make a considerable contribution towards the Government’s Net Zero target for 2045, whilst looking like an integrated cluster with the existing and proposed Clashindarroch wind energy developments. We are now in a position to share our draft proposals with local residents and we are keen to hear what they think.”
There will be two public consultations next month:
Wednesday 5th October, 5 – 8pm, Mortlach Memorial Hall, Back Hall, Albert Place, Dufftown, AB55 4AY
Thursday 6th October, 3 – 7pm, Kirkton, Upper Cabrach, AB54 4HQ
Further to that, an online consultation event will be livestreamed on webinar platform Zoom on Thursday 24th October 2022, from 5.30 until 6.30pm. Members of the public can register for the online session through the project website www.clashindarrochwindfarmextension.co.uk or by sending an email to the project team, at info@clashindarrochwindfarmextension.co.uk.
At all events, key members of the project team will be on hand to discuss the proposals and answer questions.
