Moray bus ticket price rises on the way? Stagecoach North Scotland announces new fares are coming for Moray, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands
Ticket prices on Stagecoach North Scotland bus services will “change” from the back end of this month, the operator has announced.
From April 27 passengers will face new ticket prices on their routes - although Stagecoach has not provided a breakdown of the new charges, if they will be higher, and if any will be lower than at present.
However, announcing the changes on Monday afternoon, it cited running costs, “inflationary pressures” and the need to invest in new technology - suggesting that the changes will indeed lead to higher costs for many bus users.
David Beaton, managing director at Stagecoach North Scotland, said: “Bus travel remains great value for money and our ticket prices provide an affordable and sustainable option for customers. Stagecoach has consistently delivered some of the lowest ticket prices in the UK and we are committed to keeping fares as low as possible for our customers.”
He added that the company is also investing in a “more user-friendly app and website”, enabling customers to buy digital single and return tickets in advance. The company says this will reduce the need for paper tickets, speed up boarding times, and contribute to a more sustainable environment.
In addition, Stagecoach is modernising its customer service centre in Perth, which it says will make it easier and faster for customers to access services, including locating lost property.
Mr Beaton added: “These investments demonstrate our ongoing commitment to improving the overall travel experience while supporting environmental sustainability, making public transport a more attractive, affordable and sustainable option for everyone.”
Those aged under 22 or over 60 in Scotland are eligible for free travel with a National Entitlement Card, and this will not change under the new pricing.
Stagecoach single and return bus tickets for all journeys in Scotland can be purchased on the Stagecoach Bus App in advance of travel, on the bus using contactless payment including Apple and Google Pay or using cash.
As well as regular single and return tickets, Stagecoach also sells unlimited Day, Seven Day and 28 Day passes, as well as flexible bundles of Day tickets with savings of up to 30 per cent.
