Breaking the ice
A "revolutionary" style of ice skating is being brought to Moray by a performance group from Canada.
A long way from sequins and fixed smiles, Le Patin Libre sees its work more as a form of contemporary dance on ice.
Karl Jay-Lewin is the creative director of the Findhorn-based collective Dance North which, along with the Eden Court arts venue in Inverness, has arranged for Le Patin Libre to come to the region.
Karl said: "They are hugely enjoyable to watch, as well as artful and entertaining.
"The audience gets to sit down on the ice upon chairs or cushions.
"This means you really get to feel the rush and swoosh of the skaters first-hand. At the same time, they are pushing boundaries, influencing and being influenced by contemporary dance as they discover a new form of skating."
Le Patin Libre will be performing on the rink at Moray Leisure Centre in Elgin on Saturday, November 9, at 3pm and again at 7pm.
Afterwards, they will be running skating workshops at the leisure during the course of the week.
Then, the following Saturday, they will be performing two more shows at the same times at the Inverness Ice Centre on Bught Drive.
Tickets (£10-£20) for both venues can be obtained by ringing 01463 234 234 or going to the Eden Court website.
