Mary Robertson and Grace Gates, who were both born in March of 1923, celebrated their 100th birthdays at the home this month.

Grace celebrated her birthday at Anderson’s Care Home surrounded by her family, friends and staff.

The centenarian was born and brought up in Leith, before moving to Wick to be with her grandparents during the Second World War.

Grace, who has a great sense of humour and loves to socialise, had a big party at the home which included lots of laughter, music and dancing.

This was followed by some birthday cake and Prosecco.

She was also absolutely thrilled to receive a card from His Majesty King Charles III and the Queen Consort.

Buckie-born Mary Robertson celebrated her 100th birthday with a meal at the Sunninghill Hotel in Elgin with friends and family. Mary has been a resident of Anderson’s since 2017 and is still very active despite her 100 years. She enjoys doing activities with Anderson’s, especially the music concerts, and loves to get visits from nursery groups.

When asked about how she has managed to live 100 years, Grace put longevity down to being surrounded by her family and friends that have supported her through various stages in her life. Mary, however, gave a very different answer and claimed that eating her porridge each day was the key to her long life.
