A96 near Elgin sees delays after multi-vehicle crash
A vital trunk road has reopened after a five-vehicle crash led to long queues of traffic.
The crash occurred at around 2.15pm today on the A96 just west of Elgin towards Alves.
Traffic Scotland confirmed in a social media post that a “multi-vehicle collision” had seen the A96 closed westbound, coming out of Elgin.
An update said traffic was “heavy” in the area, with police on the scene.
However, at 3.07pm today, the spokesperson said the road was now open westbound, but “restricted” heading east into Elgin.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that recovery of the vehicles had now been arranged.
The Traffic Scotland spokesperson also urged drivers to “consider an alternative route” in the face of the delays.
According the Traffic Scotland’s live traffic map, drivers are experiencing “stationary queuing traffic” in the area of the crash.
