Traffic Scotland confirmed in a social media post that a “multi-vehicle collision” had seen the A96 closed westbound, coming out of Elgin.

An update said traffic was “heavy” in the area, with police on the scene.

However, at 3.07pm today, the spokesperson said the road was now open westbound, but “restricted” heading east into Elgin.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that recovery of the vehicles had now been arranged.

The Traffic Scotland spokesperson also urged drivers to “consider an alternative route” in the face of the delays.

According the Traffic Scotland’s live traffic map, drivers are experiencing “stationary queuing traffic” in the area of the crash.
