SIX year old Ellie McHardy was diagnosed with fluid on the brain due to a tumour in January 2023.

She has gone through chemotherapy with the condition affecting her sight leaving her with a very small field of vision.

Her resilience, however, has been nothing short of amazing and she hasn’t let her condition stop her from getting the most out of life.

That resilience was recognised on Thursday evening at the Banff Springs Hotel when she was named Brave Child of the Year.

Ellie, speaking after collecting her award, said: “I have been listening to the doctors to get me better.

“I have sensory teachers who help me with my typing and the braille that I’m learning.”

Ellie’s dad Mike added: “She doesn’t see it as doing anything special.

“She gets on with it. I think that’s why she was nominated.”
