A MORAY craft brewery has donated more than £800 to local outdoor adventure charity Outfit Moray.

Lossiemouth-based Windswept Brewing handed over £840 to Outfit Moray, also based in Lossie.

The charity will use the money to provide outdoor adventures for young people in Moray, particularly those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged.

A year ago, Windswept pledged to donate three pence from every bottle of Lighthouse, a Kölsch-style lager named after Covesea Skerries Lighthouse, to the charity – and that's how the money has been raised.

Nigel Tiddy, director at Windswept Brewing, said: “Over the years we have supported and participated in events hosted by Outfit Moray so it’s been great to deepen our relationship and formalise our support with our Lighthouse beer.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have not only supported us through what has been a really challenging time but also helped us to support this fantastic charity in turn.

"We hope this will be first of many donations to come.”

As well as the donation, Windswept hosted the finish line of Outfit Moray’s Cairngorm to Coast event in 2021 and plan to do so again this May this year.

The event’s 100km route finished at Windswept Brewing’s Tap Room in Lossiemouth, where happy participants were able to enjoy a celebratory bottle of Lighthouse.

Tony Brown, CEO of Outfit Moray, said: “Fundraising continues to be a challenge for us, so we are incredibly grateful to Windswept Brewing for their generous and continued support.

"The funds raised from the sale of their Lighthouse beer will be a vital source of regular income to support our work delivering life-changing outdoor learning and adventure activities for young people in Moray.”

Outfit Moray works closely with schools, youth groups and charities to offer adventurous activities such as canoeing, kayaking, climbing and mountain biking to vulnerable and disadvantaged young people and their families

Nigel Tiddy added: “At Windswept, we strongly believe in the importance of getting outdoors and enjoying the incredible environment we live in.

"It’s no mistake that our ethos is a great beer tastes best when you’ve earned it."
