MORAY Council is investigating reported antisocial behaviour at Forres' most popular play park.

Community support officer Laura Cameron has been informed by a concerned member of the public of increased noise levels affecting residents in the Mannachie, Thornhill and Ferryhill areas since the upgrading of play equipment in the middle of the area.

The issue was discussed at a recent meeting of Forres Area Forum (FAF).

A FAF member said: "A member of the public approached the CSU and stated there is an increase in park noise levels after 9pm. Laura is in dialogue with him."

The play park has had all of its old equipment removed following years of neglect.

A total of £85,000 was raised for the upgrade - £70k capital funding from Moray Council and £15k of funding through the Scottish Communities Landfill Funding fundraised via FAF and Forres Community Council.

The community was asked to choose the play equipment last Autumn. A new zipline, 'hamster wheel', wheelchair accessible roundabout, two-bay swings, pod swing, agility trail, climbing unit and slide have been included.

The project was completed by mid-February.

A project steering group mooted an additional toddler area at a cost of £35,000.

The council spokeswoman confirmed fundraising for additional play equipment has been discussed.

"Work is ongoing to gauge the extent of reported antisocial behaviour and to implement any mitigations to minimise it."
