COMMUNITY projects in Keith and wider the Strathisla area are being invited to apply for grants through the Keith Greener Grid Park Community Fund, where £60,000 of funding is available.
Keith Greener Grid Park, developed and operated by renewable energy company Statkraft, provides £20,000 of funding every year. This year’s additional £40,000 funding boost is due to unspent back-dated funds.
Projects that received funding during 2023 include Keith and District Men’s Shed, which was awarded a grant to support the purchase of a new solar panel and battery storage, and Longmore Community Hall, which received funding toward the replacement of emergency lighting.
The fund supports projects for energy efficiency and environmental projects from £500 and £30,000. The closing date for this year’s applications is July 11.
Guy Nicholson, Statkraft’s Head of Greener Grid Parks said: “It was really encouraging to see the level of interest from community groups last time, and how this funding has helped them become more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested to consider applying.
“As part of our commitment to being a good neighbour, we are keen to ensure that the community benefits from having a Statkraft project in their local area.”
The final funding decisions on applications are made following a review by a local Panel with representatives from Keith Community Council, Strathisla Community Council and Moray Council.
